BEAUTY IN DENIAL
As beautiful as she is now
She was not always so,
For to become what she is now,
She had a long way to go.
Once she was considered to be an ugly duckling
Because no one knew who she was
But she kept on striving for what she wanted
Despite what they saw
A stranger moving in town,
No one wanted to get close to her
She played by her self
Or invited others over
Still, no one wanted to speak to her
One day someone got in trouble
And no one wanted to help
So she took out all her will
And went over without a yelp
She saved the one and became friends.
Through her childhood they have been friends.
They worked together, studied together and even cherished each other.
A friendship everyone wanted to have.
They toiled for the stars and instead they reached the sky
Together they conquered the world and did it without a fight.
Soon it was time for them to part ways because they had separate dreams
And the brave little girl went away to college
There she met new friends
And gained a new experience
She loved the school and hated the stress.
She soon met someone she fell in love with and
A few years past they got engaged, but,
Soon he had to fly out for work
She would not get to be with him for a year or two,
But she kept the faith and waited for his return
Her father grew tired of her and kicked her out
Not wanting to send her to school
But, still she tried
Despite everything, she tried
She continued school
However, other plans were laid out for her in the end
She became ill, and despite what the doctor told her
She knew something else was wrong with her,
But she did not know what.
She refused to do a blood test because she is afraid of needles
How can they help her?
Her pain is unbearable and her wishes are simple.
No one paid much attention to her other than the one she loved
How she needed his shoulder to cry on,
But being so far away, she only got his soothing voice
This made her hurt only more because she missed him so much
She says she is now tired of living
But holds on for him
She says she wants to die
But still strives for him
He gives her encouragement whenever possible
‘You are beautiful, and strong, and because of you others will become successful’,
If only she could believe that forever,
But for a while she did.
I am telling you,
She was not always as beautiful as she is now
She still is not
But she holds on
And being her friend
I can tell
She might not be holding on for long
